This original oil painting by Australian artist Angela Hawkey captures a cluster of native gum trees beneath a wide, softly painted sky. Sculptural trunks rise through layers of deep eucalyptus green and olive foliage, set against distant blue hills and a warm blush-toned landscape.
Painted entirely with a palette knife, the artwork features thick, expressive layers of oil paint that give the trees wonderful movement and dimension. Sweeping marks of cream, ochre, green and soft pink create a contemporary interpretation of the Australian bush, while the generous texture allows light and shadow to become part of the painting itself.
This one-of-a-kind original may be small in scale, but the bold palette-knife work gives it plenty of presence. A beautiful little original for collectors of contemporary Australian landscapes and textured oil paintings.
