Brisbane Affordable Art Fair 2025

Brisbane Affordable Art Fair 2025

The Brisbane Affordable Art Fair returned for its second year in May, bringing together artists and galleries from around Australia in a vibrant celebration of creativity. Among the local participants was Angela Hawkey, who exhibited her work under the banner of her recently established Gold Coast Gallery of Art.

Angela, known for her textured palette knife oil paintings, shared a new collection of original artworks — including still lifes, abstracts, and landscapes — all with her distinctive use of colour and form. The pieces ranged from small, shelf-friendly sizes to larger feature works, offering something for a variety of spaces and budgets.

The Gold Coast Gallery of Art stand featured works not just by Angela, but by a group of Australian artists she represents, with a strong focus on making original art more accessible. With many works priced under $1,000, the booth attracted visitors looking for unique and affordable pieces to add to their homes or start their collections.

Visitors to the fair could also chat directly with Angela and other artists at the stand, gaining insight into their creative process and the stories behind the artworks. It was a relaxed and friendly atmosphere, with plenty of conversations sparked by texture, colour, and curiosity.

Being part of the Affordable Art Fair was not just about selling work; for Angela and the Gold Coast Gallery of Art, it was also about connecting with the wider art-loving community and supporting the idea that original art should be approachable and enjoyable for everyone.
